Q. How much does it cost to see a psychologist?
A. Jo-Anne's fee: $260.00 per 51-60 mins. APS recommendation
Medicare rebate is $128.50
Q. How do I get a Medicare Rebate?
A. You will need a "Better Outcomes Care Plan". Visit your G.P and discuss your current situation and enquire about a referral to a psychologist on the "Better Outcomes Care Plan".
Q. Do I need a referral from a G.P to see a Psychologist?
A. No. Many people see a psychologist by simply telephoning directly.
However, there won't be a Medicare rebate.
Q. How many times can I see the psychologist?
A. Simply answered, as many times as you need.
If you have the Better Outcomes Care Plan, you can receive up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year, with a Medicare Rebate of $128.50 , when seeing a clinical psychologist. After that, if more are needed you will pay the regular fee with no Medicare rebate.
